A Deep Dive into our Impact

As we grow, Cloud Paper is committed to continuously broadening our impact as a company. And while putting an end to the deforestation caused by paper products is a great start, our work doesn’t stop there—we're leading the charge on ensuring that our product is as sustainable as possible. This includes, but is not limited to, implementing top tier environmental manufacturing and transportation processes, committing to ethical sourcing of bamboo fibers that avoids the conversion of primary forests, and expanding our social good work.

Manufacturing and Transportation

From our very first shipment of Cloud Paper we have ensured that we work with manufacturing partners who are FSC-certified and have world-class sustainability practices. Our product uses Elementally-Chlorine-Free (ECF) bleach and is made with 100% renewable bamboo. Our packaging is 100% plastic-free, made with recycled materials, and is fully recyclable.

Beyond the core product, we also track the carbon emissions generated from transportation and offset those emissions through verified and trusted sources. We’ve chosen to partner with the CarbonFund to 2x offset all carbon emissions generated by the transportation of our product. In parallel, we are exploring additional supply chain improvements to reduce the total miles travelled, and in turn, reduce our carbon footprint.

Sourcing of Bamboo

Protecting the complex biodiversity of our forestland has been at the core of what we stand for since day one. Cloud Paper is committed to ensuring that our fibers are sourced responsibly and don’t lead to the conversion of primary forests for the planting of bamboo. Our bamboo is sourced from the Chishui City region of the Guizhou province of China, where bamboo has been a crucial part of the ecosystem and economy for centuries. It’s estimated that the bamboo in the region provides some 200,000 local inhabitants with a way to make a living. And don’t worry, we aren’t taking any food from the local pandas -- they eat a different species of bamboo then what is used for paper products.

As our sourcing operations expand globally we are committed to ensuring a rigorous evaluation of supply chain partners to ensure top tier environmental and social standards are met.

Social Impact

We’ve always believed in giving back and taking care of others. When the COVID-19 pandemic hit in 2020 we immediately began donating our product to food banks and shelters in our area through our partners at Food Lifeline. To date, we’ve donated over 125,000 rolls of toilet paper and paper towels to Food Lifeline who distributes these needed products to their network of 300+ food banks and shelters. We continue to regularly donate our product across the U.S. and are always exploring new ways to expand our social impact program.

As more and more people switch to sustainable paper products like Cloud Paper the industry has a responsibility to ensure we raise the bar across sustainability and social impact. We are proud to be at the forefront of that conversation.
